Meet the people who are essential to Angels' Share Glass
Master Glassblower Tom has been glassblowing since he was a teenager. Tom worked in industrial and chemical glass laboratories until his creative side took over and he innovated decorative glass designs using a bench flame torch. His commissions include glass pieces for high profile figures and companies all over the world. Tom made the glass element of the Johnnie Walker Gold trophy and almost every spirit bowl in the Scotch Whisky Industry.
Now, 60+ years on, and a Master Glassblower Tom was awarded an MBE for for services to the glass industry in the Queens New Years Honours List 2017.
He still creates wonderful designs for Angel's Share Glass whilst fitting in a game of golf or two!
Karen drives this growing business forward.
She designs and innovates new ways to bring the specialist glassware to the customer. Karen's business acumen is key in the business growth and international exports and trade.
Karen has been awarded Entrepreneur of the Year. She is also a (WES) Women's Enterprise Scotland ambassador and holds a committee position for The Brittish Association of Women Entrepreneurs Scotland.
She is Co-Founder of the Fife Whisky Festival and a business judge for The Scottish Whisky Awards.
Karen's passion for whisky and quality glassware is evident when presenting Angels' Share Glass.
Helen was originally a midwife.
As a friend of the family she started in an administration role with the company and now handles customer service and order despatch.
Helen loves the happy working environment in the office and also has a good eye for quality control, whilst carefully packing all the orders.
Helen regularly receives five star reviews on her customer service and is highly efficient when it comes to getting things done.
Gillian McLaren is our fulltime Glassblower.
Her role in involves not only day to day production but also design and new product development.
Gillian comes from a very creative background and graduated from Sunderland in Glass & Ceramics.
Stained Glass and bead-making enticed Gillian back into glass making in 2018.
Gillian has been training with Tom and now manufactures and designs many of the newest designs.
Matthew joined the team in 2019 as an apprentice.
Matthew has developed new skills in admin processing and is working towards further qualifications whilst assisting in the office at Angels' Share Glass.
He is also very much into gaming and is a whizz on a spreadsheet.
Matthew also handles our couriers and logistics.
Emmet is Karen's husband and also runs his own Glazing firm Bridge of Allan Glazing.
Emmet runs the operational side of Angels' Share Glass and assists with all compliance, quality control, health and safety.
He also has a keen eye for processing and keeps the warehouse and stock rooms in great working order.
Maintenance and Tech support is his strong point and saves time and money by doing tricky jobs straight away!
Loren originally has a background in Music, however, decided that Digital Marketing was more her style. After completing her Digital Marketing and Ecommerce apprenticeship in just under 7 months – we knew she would be a great addition to our team.
With her Mum and Grandad making up the WhiskyBoys, Loren has been surrounded by whisky all her life. As a result of this she has toured every distillery on Islay and Campbeltown at least twice. For somebody who doesn’t drink Scotch she sure knows a lot about it.
Social Media campaigns are what Loren enjoys the most, watching results and analytics come back is a great reward.
Reiss joined our team in February 2021 and is our Digital Marketing Apprentice.
Reiss manages most of our video content, creating for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
Digital Marketing Consultant Nicola Young runs her own marketing firm as well as being a Whisky blogger, collector and writer with The Whisky Boys.
Nicola has a real passion for whisky and everything Scottish so it's fantastic to have an expert in these fields assisting our team.
Rachel is a freelance PR Specialist whose locality and familiarity with the family and company is ideal for her promotion of the firm, its staff and products via newspapers, magazines and relevant websites.
Rachel is also contributing time to assisting with Business Awards and also the writing of Tom's autobiography.
