As the Highland games and tourist season is still in full swing here in Scotland we thought we'd re-introduce you to our Scottish Clans
There are well over 150 Clans and family collectives in Scotland.
(from Gaelic word clann, literally 'children' or more broadly 'kindred') is a bond for many Scottish people..
Like whisky Clans have their own story to tell and give a sense of shared identity and descent to members. Clans traditionally have their own tartan, typically dating back to the 19th century, which many members now incorporate into kilts or other clothing.
in 2021 Angels' Share Glass designed and wove it's on legacy tartan Whisky & Water. not linked to any clan but unique in every thread. in our own preference We associated with the Young Clan, Rue Castle, near Jedburgh in the Scottish borders, is the site of a castle once held by the Youngs that was torched by the English in 1513 and 1545 ( oh dear )

After the Battle of Culloden in 1746, when the last Jacobite rising came to an end under the control of Bonnie Prince Charlie, the clan system began to break down and the Highland clearances saw thousands of Scots emigrate south and also to the new lands of America and Canada. The battleground is near Inverness and is now looked after by The National Trust for Scotland.
This historic movement of the Clans is recognised by clan chieftains all across the globe passing down the titles and traditions. Clan gatherings and Highlands games now take place all across the world.
