St. Valentine otherwise known as Valentine of Terni is a widely recognised Roman saint. Since the middle ages St. Valentine has been associated with love. One of the many legends that surround St. Valentine was that he secretly married couples behind the back of the emperor to spare the husbands from war. This is just one of the alleged reasons this feast day is associated with him and love.
