The Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar - Door Number 14

Each day in December until Christmas Day we are opening a door on The Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar and posting our tasting notes on our blog.

The 14th already. Christmas is right around the corner. Better start the Christmas shopping!

Today is another blended malt from the Italian Samaroli company. It's called 2008 Samaroli by Samaroli 7yo with Glenallachie, Glentauchers and Macduff in the mix. It's at their usual 43%.

On the nose it's fresh and grassy. There's grist and fresh dough underneath that. It's definitely smells young, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. There's a hint of lemon zest and some cereal notes and pastry.

On the palate it's creamy and tastes like a liquid lemon puff. Tinned fruit cocktail in syrup comes through followed by some oak.

The finish is not particularly long but the fresh lemon, cereal and oak notes continue through to the end.

It's a light whisky once again from Samaroli, but it's tasty and refreshing.
