Naked Grouse Whisky Cocktail Jugs from Angels' Share Glass

We're very excited to add yet another connection to our growing whisky network!

 

Tom is already responsible for the creation of some of the integral glassware pieces that help to distil the Famous Grouse Whisky, and his personal quote is also held immortal in the copper bands of “The Famous Collaboration” sculpture, a collective project launched last year by Famous Grouse which is now touring the globe.

 

Most recently Tom has executed a truly unique project, crafting the Naked Grouse classic bottles into innovative cocktail pouring jugs which were showcased in a select few cocktail bars across London this summer. 

                                    

 

Making these jugs put us in the mood for a whisky cocktail or two, plus it gave us an excuse to put our Drink Stirrers to good use! There are so many to choose from but we have a few classic recipes from Famous Grouse that have become firm favourites.

 

The Whisky Sour

  • 50ml whisky
  • 25ml lemon juice
  • 12.5ml sugar syrup
  • ½ egg white (optional)
  • Plenty of cubed ice
  • Orange peel (to garnish)

Simply mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, then strain and garnish.  We love the tangy flavours of lemon mixed with the warming effect of the whisky in this cocktail - although we know that raw egg is a little off-putting for some! 

 

The Old Fashioned

 

  • 50ml whisky
  • 2 splashes of Angostura bitters
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • Plenty of cubed ice
  • Orange zest (to garnish)

Shake up and strain over ice, then garnish.  This is a slight cheat recipe, perfect for those who don't fancy dissolving sugar cubes for 10 minutes per drink - we think it tastes just as good.

 

The Rob Roy

  • 45ml whisky
  • 25ml Sweet vermouth
  • 12.5ml sugar syrup
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • 1 maraschino cherry
  • Plenty of cracked ice

This is a Scottish version of the Manhattan which tastes even better than the original.  Plus a cocktail named after a Scottish hero has got to be good!

 

The Rusty Nail

  • 45ml whisky
  • 20ml Drambuie
  • Lemon twist for garnish
  • Lots of ice cubes

This cocktail is not for the faint-hearted!  Rumour has it that it was originally made by stirring it with a rusty nail, but we don't recommend doing that...  It certainly warms the cockles after a few sips.
